MYTHS ARE PUBLIC DREAMS, DREAMS ARE PRIVATE MYTHS
Private View Thursday 8 March 2012, 8.00 to 10.00pm

Thank you to our selection panel, Sophie Leach - Editor of AD, Minna Georgieva George - artist and curator and Beatty Hallas - artist and curator of the annual art show Flourish for selecting the works, all of which were impressed with the high level of entries received.

Please use the private view invitation above to come and see this show and invite all your contacts.

This is a special show. It not only actively supports libraries under threat, it also coincides with the 101st International Women’s Day by celebrating the wonderful and diverse talent of women artists in South London. Our thanks once again go to Dulwich Library for being our host.

The 6th exhibition of work by SLWA at Dulwich Library is to run from Sunday 4th March to Saturday 31 March, 2012. The show will coincide with the International Women Day and will be integrated within the series of events promoted by Southwark Council

Myths are public dreams, dreams are private myths

This piece of text is a quote from the contemporary mythologist, Joseph Campbell who believed that if myths are to sustain their vital functions in the world today, they have to continually transform and evolve to address the realities of contemporary life. Drawing on dreams, the unconscious and intuition, the exhibition explores how art reflects the changing world around us.

 SNAP!  Women artists working together.

Bankside Gallery, 2-7 May 2012

South London Women Artists’ second show at Bankside Gallery will exhibit work selected from the diverse practices of all members of their community including painting, photography, printmaking, drawing and textiles.  The exhibition will be based around Women Artist Diaries from the Women’s Library collection at Goldsmith’s University, including the 1999 edition featuring one of our members, Jackie Brown. During the show here will be a gallery talk by a Tate trained guide and a performative event.  Education workshops will involve four schools from the Bankside area.
