 SLWA WoW Postcard Exhibition

South London Women Artists group show at the Women of the World Festival

Royal Festival Hall, Southbank SE1

08-10 March 2013

SLWA celebrates International Women's Day promoting the creativity of its members and the power and intelligence of women. In art history women artists are little known and underrepresented. Throughout the WoW weekend, SLWA artists are available to talk about the work SLWA does to create opportunity for its artists to critically engage with their work and bring their work to new, and wider audiences, raising its artists’ individual profiles and public knowledge of the role of women artists in society.

WOW includes a diverse programme of keynote speakers, performances, concerts, talks, gigs, debates, free music, a marketplace, exhibitions, workshops, speed-mentoring, networking opportunities and more. Friday is a day focussed on business and policy making, and Saturday and Sunday cover all sorts of subjects from hair and beauty, politics, men and feminism, sport and sex.

Find the SLWA Postcard Exhibition next to the Clore Ballroom in The WOW Market Place, alongside other invited stalls: providing information, raising awareness, showcasing work and selling beautiful handmade objects and goods.

Admission to the market is free and many of the events in the foyer are also free.

Friday 08, Saturday 09 and Sunday 10 March 2013. 10am to 6pm

I’M INSIDE, RING THE BELL!

47/49 Tanner Street, SE1

15-17 March 2013

Curated by Julie Bennett, Leonie Cronin, Laura Moreton-Griffiths and Lucy Soni

Continuing the International Women’s Month celebrations, SLWA is working with 4749 Tanner Street to exhibit a major new collaborative work about women of importance - a contemporized interpretation of Judy Chicago’s The Dinner Party.

‘how many women had struggled into prominence or been able to make their ideas known - sometimes in the face of overwhelming obstacles - only (like the women on the table) to have their hard earned achievements marginalized or erased’.

Judy Chicago

The exhibition is part of the weekend festival at 4749 Tanner Street. Expect live music, a performance by The Purple Ladies, a radical all women cabaret group and an evening of standup with 5 comics: 4 women and a token male.

Friday 15, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March 2013. 11 – 6pm

Admission to I’m Inside, Ring The Bell! is free. Tanner Street performances are ticketed events.
