  • Artist Statement
I am interested in the politics of time and how modern – western – history is predicated on a linear model of storytelling. My visual art practice conflates past, present and future, to create collapsing timelines of interacting and cascading cause and effect, that draw on cultural and art-historical references, and autobiographical memories. My work reflects the things I am opposed to and thus necessarily deals with issues of conflict and control. Always amazed by what we don’t know, what has been overwritten, forgotten, my practice is my attempt to fill in the gaps between known facts and fictions, and overlooked people and events at the margins of history.

Drawing, painting, objects, photography, digital collage, film and and performance via a cast of characters. Performed or hung, and animated by simple technology, light, sound and projection.

I am currently working on a project supported using public funding by Arts Council England: TRUTH LIES WITHIN History painting the near future.
