Artist Statement: Eithne Twomey is a graduate of the Crawford School of Art, Cork, Ireland where she studied Fine Art and Ceramic Design. Initially she worked in Ceramics and exhibited in Ireland in the 80s.Eithne has been painting for the last seven years and more recently has taken up printing.
Her work is concerned with the landscapes of where she grew up mainly to do with the sea. She uses both imagery from family photo albums and up to date photos taken every time she goes “home”. She then processes this imagery through drawing, print, photocopies, and collages to make new assemblages/paintings which give a strong sense of place “a very particular, quiet vibration of place that the artist lives and breathes”.
